The Honorable Barry R. Poretz, retired Magistrate Judge of the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Virginia, has joined The McCammon Group, a leading dispute resolution firm in the mid-Atlantic.
Judge Poretz served the United States District Court in Alexandria starting in 1992 until his retirement in August 2008. His distinguished judicial service was preceded by a civil litigation career representing both plaintiffs and defendants in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. Judge Poretz is a former Partner at the DC office of Jordan, Coyne, Savits and Lopata. Judge Poretz is a former Assistant Commonwealth’s Attonery in Alexandria, VA.
In addition to his notable legal credentials, Judge Poretz has served the community as a former Member on the Board of Directors for the Alexandria Hospital, a former Master at the George Mason Inn of Court, and a Judicial Member of the Federal Bar Assocation’s Northern Virginia Chapter. He is a past Director and Executive Board Member of the Alexandria Bar Association.
