Susan Levin
Susan Levin is a mediator, trainer, facilitator and coach. Since 1989, she’s worked with clients to resolve conflict, communicate more openly, build stronger teams, appreciate diversity, plan strategically and improve organizational approaches. She works closely with her clients to design and deliver projects that meet their unique needs and challenges. She uses an appreciative approach to help her clients explore their best practices to achieve their future vision.
Focusing on a positive perspective, she facilitates sessions that bring out the existing strengths and experiences of employees. For the United Nations Management Development Centre in Rome, Italy, she was part of a team that facilitated a leadership program for senior leaders using a strengths-based approach. She also coached participants to develop action plans for the upcoming year as well as analyzed the results of their 360-degree feedback reports and their Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Using a strengths-based approach, Susan facilitated a retreat for managers responsible for EEO and Alternative Dispute Resolution programs as part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Conflict Prevention and Resolution Center.
As a mediator for the Supreme Court of Virginia, Ms. Levin facilitates dialogue between people in conflict so that they can find new ways to resolve their mutual problems. The intention is to create an opportunity to transform their relationship and the way they deal with conflict in the future.
Internationally, Ms. Levin has worked in Mali, Ukraine, Dominican Republic, Kenya, the Philippines, Russia, Bosnia, Hungary and Cuba on projects ranging from management training to microcredit programs to mediation workshops. Whether abroad or in the US, she’s mindful of making sure her work is culturally relevant.
Some of her other clients include the Campaign for America’s Wilderness, U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. Agency for International Development, the National Institutes of Health, the Milwaukee Police Department, Management Concepts, Inc., Chemonics International, National Archives, National Park Service, Native American Management Services, American University, University of Maryland, National Public Radio, Montgomery College Diversity Management Institute, the World Bank, the National MultiCultural Institute and Arlington County.
Ms. Levin has a master’s degree in international affairs from The George Washington University. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida focusing on agriculture and anthropology, after transferring from Tufts University. |
