
William Maurer
Areas of Experience
Bill Maurer brings over 25 years of experience in conflict resolution, organizational transformation, and executive-level ombuds work. He served as the inaugural Organizational Ombuds for the U.S. Census Bureau, where he built the program from the ground up, expanding it to a nationwide team and introducing innovative approaches to foster employee engagement, improve systems, and enhance performance.
A seasoned federal leader, Bill also served as an Associate Ombuds at multiple federal agencies and was repeatedly recognized for his contributions with top departmental honors. His expertise includes facilitating large-scale organizational change initiatives, designing performance improvement strategies at the national level, and increasing employee focus on the organizational mission.
Bill is a former Chair of the Coalition of Federal Ombudsman and served on the Recertification Committee of the International Ombudsman Association. He is also a certified executive leadership coach and has supported the federal community as a mediator, facilitator, and mentor.
In addition to his public sector work, Bill has experience in healthcare and education reform and served for six years as Vice President of the Board of Directors for a nonprofit community mediation center. He served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Nepal. Bill holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University and completed the Senior Managers in Government Program at the Harvard Kennedy School.
