Areas of Experience

Jimmy Srun is a conflict resolution practitioner, mediator, and coach with more than 15 years of experience serving as a confidential, impartial, and informal resource for employees and leaders across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. From 2013 to 2026, he served in the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Alternative Dispute Resolution program, first as an ADR Advisor and later as Supervisory ADR Advisor leading a nationwide team. In these roles, he worked with employees and leaders at all levels to talk through workplace concerns confidentially, explore their options, and resolve issues early and informally through conflict coaching, facilitated conversations, mediation, and negotiation support.

Beyond individual concerns, Jimmy worked at the organizational level: conducting organizational assessments, overseeing employee engagement survey strategy, and advising leaders on trends and systemic issues during periods of organizational change. Deployed to numerous Presidentially Declared Major Disasters, he served in Command Staff–level advisory roles, providing on-the-ground conflict resolution, facilitation, and consultation in high-pressure operational environments. He has also designed and delivered training on conflict management, difficult conversations, psychological safety, and negotiation.

Jimmy has completed the International Ombuds Association’s Foundations of Organizational Ombuds Practice and approaches his work through the IOA’s core principles of independence, neutrality, confidentiality, and informality. He is a court-appointed mediator for the Maryland Circuit Courts, including child custody and access matters, and a founding member of the Cambodian Centre for Mediation. His dispute resolution training includes Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation certificates in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution and in Mediation and Participatory Processes, the Harvard Negotiation Institute Mediation Workshop, United States Institute of Peace certificates in Conflict Analysis, Mediating Violent Conflict, and Capacity Building, and Basic Mediation Training through Community Mediation Maryland.

Jimmy holds an M.A. in Public Management from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Sociology, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He also holds the Harvard Kennedy School Public Leadership Credential and a Harvard University certificate in Leadership Coaching Strategies. He is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation, a Coach U Certified Graduate, and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner. His additional training includes conflict coaching through Conflict Coaching Matters and coaching abrasive leaders through The Boss Whispering Institute, and he is an Everything DiSC® Certified Practitioner, a licensed Personal Coaching Styles Inventory (PCSI) facilitator, and certified in EQ-i 2.0/EQ 360. He speaks English, Khmer, and French.
