Barbara Hulburt is a mediator, facilitator and trainer and has been active in dispute resolution since 1988.
After receiving her law degree from Stanford University, she practiced law in San Francisco from 1982-1985 and then worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia as Director of the Department of Dispute Resolution Services, Supreme Court of Virginia (1991-96), and as Deputy Director of the Department of Employee Relations Counselors (1989-91).
Much of Ms. Hulburt’s work has involved improving relationships and productivity in the workplace through training which enhances communication skills and emphasizes conflict prevention and management. She was the chief designer of, and trainer for, the Commonwealth of Virginia’s employment mediation program. Since leaving the state she has done similar work for private entities. She has served as a facilitator of communication and consensus building in projects ranging from internal strategic planning to public policy debates.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Swarthmore College and Stanford Law School, Ms. Hulburt has trained throughout the U.S. and in Argentina, Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico and Uruguay. She has received numerous awards for her outstanding skills as a trainer.
