Founded with seven Neutrals, the firm has grown to more than 90 retired state and federal judges and experienced attorneys who are carefully selected and rigorously trained. Our History

1995

The McCammon Group opened its doors in Virginia in June 1995. John McCammon “Assembled All-Stars” including Senator William Spong, Hon. Robert Harris, Larry Hoover, John OBrion and Guy Tower. The original name was “McCammon Mediation Group.”

1997

As the company expanded throughout Virginia and brought on more top-flight Neutrals, lawyers and litigants begin to have a better understanding of the meaning of “Mediation” as more and more cases were resolved by our Neutrals.

2001

The McCammon Group expanded its footprint into Washington, DC.

2002

The McCammon Group is selected as one of the Rising 25 (fastest growing small companies) by KPMG, Metro Business, and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

2006

The McCammon Group expanded its footprint into Maryland.

2013

John McCammon was voted one of Virginia’s “Leaders in the Law” and selected as the “Leader of the Year” by Virginia Lawyer’s Weekly.

2015

20th Anniversary Celebration of The McCammon Group with a photo of the Neutrals at The Jefferson Hotel.

2020

The McCammon Group celebrates its 25th anniversary with over 80 Neutrals serving the Mid-Atlantic, The McCammon Group has handled more than 25,000 cases to date.

2025

2026

At the beginning  of 2026, John McCammon, founder and long-serving President of The McCammon Group, retired, marking the close of an extraordinary chapter of leadership and service.
